Baekmark & Kvist Forsikringsraadgivning A/S
Baekmark & Kvist was established in 1984 and is today the 4th largest broker in Denmark and the largest independent Danish-owned brokerage company. The company is headquartered in the beautiful old city of Aalborg.
Baekmark & Kvist’s core business is both mid-sized industrial firms as well as public and municipal organizations.
The industrial client mix includes plastics, construction, iron-makers, chemicals and shipping.
Baekmark & Kvist staff includes specialists in the complex and evolving field of liability for IT firms. As a result, information technology accounts represent a large share of the firm’s overall liability portfolio.
Municipality/public entities related business represents approximately 35 percent of Baekmark & Kvist’s business giving Marsh and Willis, its competitors in this market, a real run for their money. Baekmark & Kvist also handles coverage for the European Economic Union.
A separate, wholly owned company provides life and pension services for businesses. In Denmark, pension services are a relatively new line of business with strong growth due to the increase in an aging population that will need personal pensions in the next 10 to 15 years. Unions are becoming more active in this aspect of employee needs, further promoting the development of this line of business.
Insurance broking is still a young business in Denmark. Twenty years ago the only distribution channel was directly through the insurance companies while today brokers account for 30-35 percent of the business and penetration is expected to increase to 70 percent within the next 5 to 10 years.
